Glasto 08

So… We’re at the Elemental tent in the Holter fields (next to the Jazz World stage) most of the time. I’ve got about 3 gigs there thoughout the weekend which is cool! It’s THE most chilled venue with sofas, art, an acoustic stage, chat shows, a healing, future telling and dream interpretation corner… Very cool :)

It’s sunny and that makes such a difference! A manager from Manchester contacted me earlier today saying that his new bands really liked a song I’ve writen and want to cover it! Very exciting – I want to be doing more song-writing for people :)

Good news today too…. My hubby LATTY has had one of his tracks signed to label in the US! They’re massive in the broken-beat scene so it’s Very cool!

I did a session on Monday – singing on a cute song for a project where this charity are going into schools and teaching the kids really positive stuff to sing – makes a change from some of the negative stuff that’s out there for kids!

This week has been a little manic – but fun!

Tuesday I drove to Peterborough and stayed with a friends from uni – everyone’s having babies – including her! I have about 20 friends / family that have either had a baby or are about to pop in the last few months – it’s crazy!

Wednesday morning was a 7.15 AM sound-check! Not funny! I was playing at a conference – was fun :) I then drove back to Manchester and we had our first ‘Social’ night at ‘Trof’ in the Northern Quarter. You can watch it here:

It went well – it was packed! We had 12 artists / singer-songwriters show-case their creations inspired by people who work with Asylum seekers in Manchester. The realities around the injustice of the way that some asylum seekers have to live in the UK are awful – we were campaigning to our local MP’s about it. I think it was a good awareness night – definitely a good start to our arts/social justice nights! I was running the night with 2 Friends and felt guilty putting any artists on first – so I went on first thinking there wouldn’t be many people there yet – but to my embarrassment – there were loads! Oh well – trying to be self-less definitely pays off!!

I gigged at Lammars last night (Thursday). That was funny! We had our first attempt at performing with the loops machine AND a live band! It worked really well! We then took it to another level which caused a fight for the mic from some of our participating audience who wanted to try the loops thing out! Also – very funny!!

It’s Katy Lunsford / Hannah J’s Birthday party tonight which should be a great gig! Tomorrow I’m at the N.E.C in Birmingham for an event.

I’m recording my loops thing to have a little live e.p ready for Glastonbury NEXT WEEK!! Very excited!

Still waiting to hear about printing costs for my little cotton bags for my album desperate to get this album out – ! I’m sooooosooooo bored of waiting now!!
